MILWAUKEE (AP) — After spending the last eight seasons as Craig Counsell’s bench coach, Pat Murphy is taking over for his former boss as the Milwaukee Brewers’ manager.The Brewers announced they were promoting Murphy on Wednesday, just over a week after the Chicago Cubs announced they had hired Counsell away from Milwaukee. Counsell had his introductory news conference with the Cubs on Monday.“Pat Murphy brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion for the game of baseball as well as a familiarity with the Brewers organization, players, staff and culture,” Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said in a statement. “Pat has been a significant contributor in the run of recent seasons of unprecedented success in franchise history. DENVER (KDVR) — A teacher at a Parker school has been fired after allegedly showing footage of previous school tragedies during a lockdown drill. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A U.S. tourist died in the Bahamas after a catamaran carrying more than 100 people sank while traveling to a private island, police said Wednesday.Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings told The Associated Press that the unidentified 74-year-old woman was from Broomfield, Colorado and was on a five-day vacation with her family when the catamaran sank late Tuesday morning.The rest of the passengers and crew members were rescued.
